Staging Basics For Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma
Nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC) is commonly seen in the Far East and amongst the Chinese diaspora. Of the 3 varieties present, nonkeratinising undifferentiated carcinoma us the most common type seen in our region. This subtype carries a good prognosis and can be successfully treated with radiotherapy, with or without chemotherapy. However, accurate staging is essential in formulating an appropriate management plan. In this workshop, participants will be taught to identify the basic anatomy of the nasopharyngeal region, the primary tumour, and the pertinent findings that will guide the clinician in determining the best treatment strategy. |
